The Story of Cornerstone Fellowship
Cornerstone was established in 1983 by a group of men and women who were hungry for more of God. Our first pastor, Al Young and his wife, Virginia, served diligently for 10 years. In 1993, the Lord called Dick Metz and his wife, Jackay, to lead our church.
Since its beginning, Cornerstone has been open to the life-changing presence of God.
By studying God’s word, leaning on one another and surrendering to the Sprit of God, we are building strong families who will raise their children to honor God and serve Him. Approximately 200 believers call Cornerstone home.
Cornerstone is a part of Antioch Oasis International, a group of pastors led by Apostle Olen Griffing from Dallas. Cornerstone also partners with local churches as a member of the Central Area Pastor’s Association, a diverse group of 15 churches representing several denominations.
Our pastor, Dick Metz, has been married to Jackay for 44 years and blessed with four children: Ryan, Jill, Julie and Jonathan. All of their children are married; they also have six grandchildren. He has joyfully served as pastor of Cornerstone Fellowship for 23 years while living in Central, ministering, and raising his family. By far, the greatest thing God has done for Dick and Jackay was to save them together in 1974. They really were not looking for Him, but He came and got them. They will forever be thankful!
Dick and Jackay like to spend time together going out to dinner (their favorite is DeAngelo’s pizza) and a good movie. They enjoy the Saints, the Tigers, family and friends.
